Aker Yards Cabins is a specialized system supplier within the marine industry. We specialize in the building of prefabricated cabin and bathroom modules for various kinds of passenger vessels. Our modules have been installed in offshore platforms and hotels as well.
The floorless cabin concept - from a mock-up to a ready-made module - including furnishing and systems is patented internationally.
In addition, we provide our customers turn-key deliveries of cabin area outfitting.

Services
Customer Service The Customer Service of Aker Yards Cabins is focusing on providing a large variety of accommodation area related services for ship owners and operators. Since the beginning the company has been active in developing new solutions to meet increasing customer expectations. All solutions from concept design phase to cabin renovations and upgrades are based on Aker Yards Cabins' strong experience and active feedback from our customers.
The average operating time for a cruise ship is 25-30 years. During that time cabins will be refurbished, repaired and upgraded several times. Aker Yards Cabins' product is not just the cabin but a whole cabin lifecycle management.
Spare Parts Service
Original cabin spare parts are provided to our customers by Aker Yards Cabins Spare Parts Service. All furniture, structural and technical components, fixtures and soft goods are delivered fast and efficiently. Also tailor-made and design items are available through our network of hundreds of suppliers.
Cabin Concept Development
Cabin Concept Development is joint development work with the Owner focusing on added value generation. A cabin must be an outstanding experience for passengers, starting from innovative design, latest entertainment and communication systems, efficient sound reduction and climate control. New cabin concepts and accommodation area concepts are developed the Owner's earning logics and passenger feedback as a starting point.
The development work covers design and function of a cabin. Alternative layouts and solutions for a cabin, bathroom, balcony and corridor are studied. New possibilities of lighting & HVAC technology and especially passenger comfort are to be taken into account. Experience gathered from operating, refurbishing and upgrading of cabins will be fully utilized when developing a new cabin concept.
LifeCycle Design
LifeCycle Design has been created to support the whole lifecycle of a cabin. The ease of daily cleaning and lifetime maintenance of new cabins will reduce their overall lifetime cost. Possibility of using renewable furniture, easy mounting and dismounting of components, energy saving solutions, latest technological possibilities, advanced materials and manufacturing technologies are to be utilized not only in newbuildings but in repair solutions as well. Lifetime maintenance of a cabin and bathroom should be planned in advance. The target for bathroom lifetime is 15 years. Aker Yards Cabins bathroom concept for newbuildings introduces a solution where bathroom is built "inside" the cabin, not integrated as part of the cabin. Old bathroom can be replaced with a new one and new waterproof details are easy to assemble. Corrosion resistant materials are used for extending the lifetime in demanding marine environment. Solutions must not only be durable but also economical.

Aker Yards Cabins’ turn-key bathroom wet cell refurbishment (Wetref) combines the expertise of our Licenced Installation Teams and modern wet cell materials to provide complete solutions for high-quality upgrading of your ship’s wet cells. Wetref is more than just a facelift.
Complete responsibility
Our clear mission is to provide services improving the profitability of your vessels. Upgrading the ageing bathrooms on board to meet the latest performance standards, Wetref refurbishment program offers effective means to attain that objective. New prefabricated floor and wall surface elements are made of high marine quality glass-fibre. Our experienced installation teams are capable of achieving minimum downtime during assembly, with negligible impact on ship schedules due to modernization procedures.
Quality guarantee
Our Wetref program is carried out according to all relevant Marine Authorities’ requirements and newbuilding standards.
The glass-fibre reinforced plastic laminate used in floors and walls has been assigned EC Type Examination Certificate (certificate of type approval) by Bureau Veritas as surface material and floor covering with low flame-spread characteristics, and it meets the criteria of:
IMO FTPC Part 5 - Test for Surface Flammability (IMO Resolution MSC.61(67) Part 5). Test procedure IMO Resolution A.653(16).
IMO FTCP Part 2 - Test for Smoke and Toxicity (IMO Resolution MSC.61(67) Part 2).
